Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of California, Los Angeles – US, 1990; M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Universidade de São Paulo (USP), São Paulo – Brazil, 1982; B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPe), Recife – Brazil, 1979. Associate Professor at UFPe since 1983 (on leave). Former UFPe’s Computer Science Graduate Program Coordinator from 1994 until 1998. Former Director of the National Computer Networks Laboratory (LARC) Technical and Scientific Council (1995-1999), and former Vice-Director of this same Council (1999-2003). He is the author of the book “Broadband Integrated Services Digital Networks”, 1994 (in Portuguese). End to End Performance WG Coordinator for the Brazilian Research and Education Network (RNP). Current position: Professor, researcher and graduate program Chair at the Computer Networks Group of Universidade Salvador (Brazil) and vice-Chair of the Multiinstitutional Doctoral Program in Computer Science in Salvador (Brazil).
